1872 RENT ROLL
The 1872 Rent Roll of the 'Fleming Estate' covers the twelve month period from 1 March 1872 to the end of February 1873, and contains the names of nearly 300 tenants on the Hampshire and Isle of Wight estates at North Stoneham, Bassett, South Stoneham, Otterbourne, Chilworth, Baddesley, and Romsey; and on the Island at Quarr, Binstead, Wootton, Fishbourne (aka Fish House), Haven Street (or Havenstreet), and Arreton. Some families had been copyhold or lifehold tenants for generations. If you find a person's name that you are researching, we would like to hear from you. A full entry gives details of the rented property and annual rent, and is available by emailed request, or by posting an enquiry on our new public forum.
