Estate

Estate workers is a rather broad term that includes anyone who worked on the estate, whether or not they were employed directly by the Estate or Willis Fleming family.

A staff of workmen were employed on the estate; in addition, tradesmen were employed from time to time. In the early 1870s, the costs of the workmen were £700-800 per annum.
