Report of the harvest home celebrations at Chilworth in October 1869.

Transcription[1]

John B. W. Fleming, Esq. celebrated his harvest home by giving a dinner on Saturday last, at Chilworth, to those in his employ. The early part of the day was spent in cricket and other amusements, and they were enlivened by the cheerful presence of Mr. and Mrs. Fleming, who take a great interest in the comforts of those in their employ. At three o’clock a substantial dinner was provided for the company in a tent, to which they did ample justice. The health of the Squire and Mrs. Fleming was drunk with great enthusiasm and musical honours. The health of Mr. Pink, the steward, was also drunk with hearty cheers. Other toasts followed and the company thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
