Looking at the Roll of Honour I noticed there were no details on six of the men listed. A review of the web site maintained by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission was able to identify further details on three, suggest a range of details for a fourth but add nothing more on two. Can anybody add more?
These with details still to be uncovered are
Gunner Alexander J. HARVEY, RGA The Royal Garrison Artillery (The RGA) was responsible for the heavy, large calibre guns and howitzers that were positioned some way behind the front line.
Private Richard LECKBLADE, Hampshire Regiment There is mention of “R Leckblade” on memorial at Bassett Av, Bassett, Hampshire and “R Leckblade” on Plaque at St Nicolas Church, North Stoneham 1/37 names (UKNIWM Ref: 49768 ascribed to Eric Gill)
Thank you, Bill, and for also providing the new information about Sapper Roland Hugh Jones, Pioneer Ernest Walter Richards, and Sub. Lieut. Arthur Frederick Wolfe via email -- which I've added to the Roll of Honour.
Bill, thanks for finding out the following information -- it really does seem likely that the name is misspelt on the tablets, but I will try and order the death certificate to check this.
