Gurner -- perhaps also known as 'The Clift' -- was a farm at, I think, Gurnard (west of Cowes) in Northwood parish on the Isle of Wight, and formed a detached portion of the Fleming Estate. In 1817 it was rented by one George Ward Esq. (was this George Ward of Northwood Park?). Can anyone help identify this property? Perhaps it formed part of present-day Cliff Farm at Gurnard?

I wonder if it could be Clifton House: now a retirement home, it's at Bath Road, Cowes which looks a possibility if you find it on the map. There is a photo at www.housingcare.org/sheltered-housing/scheme-36287-clifton-house-cowes-england.aspx and it does look like it was once a grand home.
